• Why Choose Us?

  • When you go to Penrose Cancer Center you'll experience the technology, compassion and expertise of one of the most well respected cancer centers in the nation. We are the only Colorado cancer center selected for the National Cancer Institute's Community Cancer Centers Program and received the 2011 Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission on Cancer

We have been a pioneer in radiation oncology for over 70 years and offer a comprehensive, integrated approach to cancer care.

Our patient outcomes are also equal or superior to national teaching institutions. For example:

    • For the years 2000-2010, our survival rates for Stage I lung cancer were 46%, better than collected data from other cancer centers around the nation.
    • Patients treated here for prostate cancer in 2003, the last year for which complete 5-year survival data is available, achieved 93% 5-year survival. Most university and teaching hospitals have reported 90% survival.
    • Between May 2011 and May 2012 we completed 270 laparoscopic/robotic procedures related to GYN cancer.
    • For our patients with gastrointestinal cancers, the average number of days from surgery to the start of chemotherapy is 38. The national average is 30-41 days.
    • In 2011, our physicians collaborated to discuss more than 780 different patients at Multi-Disciplinary Conferences.
    • Over the past 2 years, our Genetic Counseling staff has tested over 500 patients.
    • In 2011, our Outreach team connected with over 2,500 people at dozens of community events and screenings.
