National Cancer Institute Community Cancer Center

National Cancer Institute at Penrose Cancer CenterPenrose Cancer Center, through its affiliation with Catholic Health Initiatives, is one of a select few cancer programs across the country to receive funding from the National Cancer Center as a NCI Community Cancer Centers Program (NCCCP).  This funding supports efforts to address community disparities in access to quality cancer care, support increased community participation in cancer clinical trials, improvements in multidisciplinary quality cancer care, expanded programming in survivorship and palliative care, and support for collection of bio-specimens for purposes of international cancer research.  The NCCCP funding, which started in 2007 and continues through 2012, has permitted PCC to make substantial progress in all of these objectives.
